Legal
Terms
Last updated 28 June 2026
These terms apply to the After The Bell application process, the refundable hold deposit, instant bookings paid in full, and the retreat itself. The retreat is provided by After The Bell. By submitting an application, paying the refundable hold deposit, or booking a place in full, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.
1. Application is not a guarantee of a place
After The Bell is application-only. Submitting the application form does not create a contract or oblige us to offer you a place. We aim to come back to you within 5 days of submission. We may decline an application for any lawful reason.
2. The refundable hold deposit
If we offer you a preliminary place, you can pay a refundable hold deposit of £1,000 to secure your place in the cohort while we confirm fit on a short call.
- The deposit is fully refundable at any time before your confirmation call takes place. To request a refund before the call, email hello@afterthebell.net.
- The deposit is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details. Refunds are issued via Stripe to the original payment method and typically settle within 5–10 working days.
- The hold does not create a binding obligation on either side to attend the retreat. If after the call we decide it is not a fit, we refund in full. If you decide before the call that it is not for you, we refund in full.
- Once you and we have both confirmed your place on the call, the deposit becomes part-payment for the retreat and is no longer refundable except as set out in the cancellation policy below.
2A. Instant bookings, paid in full
If you book through the “Secure Instantly” option, you pay the full all-inclusive fee upfront and skip the application entirely.
- Payment is your confirmation. Your place in the cohort is confirmed the moment your payment completes. There is no application, review step or confirmation call.
- The instant-booking fee is non-refundable, except where we cancel or materially change the retreat (see “Cancellation by us” below) or where a refund is required by law. Sections 3 and 4 below (balance payment and cancellation by you) do not apply to instant bookings: there is no balance to pay and no refund on cancellation.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
- Your welcome pack and joining instructions are sent to the email address you provide at booking.
- The health, safety, conduct and liability sections of these terms apply to instant bookings exactly as they do to applicants.
3. Confirming your place and the balance
After the confirmation call we will send you joining details, payment instructions for the balance, and any preparatory information for the retreat. The balance must be paid by the date stated on your invoice unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. If the balance is not paid by that date and we have not agreed an extension, we may release your place to another applicant.
4. Cancellation by you, after confirmation
Once your place is confirmed, the following cancellation terms apply because the retreat operates with a small, fixed cohort and many of our costs are incurred well before guests arrive:
- More than 60 days before the start date: full refund of the balance, deposit retained.
- 60 to 30 days before the start date: 50% refund.
- Less than 30 days before the start date: no refund.
If you fall ill or cannot attend for reasons outside your control, we will make reasonable efforts to move your place to a future cohort rather than apply the cancellation terms. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
5. Cancellation by us
If we cancel or materially change a retreat for reasons within our control, we will offer you a full refund of any money you have paid or a place on a future cohort, at your choice. Where we cancel or postpone for reasons outside our control (force majeure, including natural events, government restrictions, or supplier failure), we will offer a place on a future cohort or a credit. Either way we are not liable for flights, insurance or other costs you have paid to third parties.
6. Health, safety and your responsibility
After The Bell includes physical training (boxing, hiking, strength work), cold-water immersion and breath work. It is suitable only for guests in reasonable physical and mental health. By attending you confirm that:
- You have considered whether the activities are appropriate for you and have taken medical advice if you are unsure.
- You have disclosed to us any medical condition, injury, medication or mental health diagnosis that could affect your participation or your safety in the activities.
- You will follow reasonable instructions from our staff during all sessions and stop any activity you feel is unsafe.
We are not a medical service. Nothing we provide is medical, psychiatric or therapeutic advice or treatment. If you need that kind of support you should seek it from a qualified professional.
7. Code of conduct
The room only works if every guest holds the same standard. By attending you agree to:
- Treat every other guest and member of staff with respect.
- Respect privacy: nothing said or shared at the retreat is to be repeated outside it.
- Follow the structure of the days, including phone-free periods.
- Not bring or use illegal drugs on the property.
We reserve the right to ask any guest to leave the retreat without refund if their conduct seriously breaches this code or puts other guests or staff at risk.
8. What is included and what is not
The retreat fee covers the items listed under “What's included” on the website at the time you confirmed your place. Flights, travel to and from the country of the retreat, travel insurance, visas, vaccinations, and personal spending are not included unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
9. Limits on our liability
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else where the law does not allow it. Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with the application, the hold deposit and the retreat is limited to the amount you have paid us for that retreat.
10. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may also bring proceedings in the country where they live if local law gives them that right.
